The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned “This is Nigeria” – a song by Falz that focuses on the rot not-so-good things about the country.
A part of the song – “This is Nigeria; look how we living now everybody be criminal” has been tagged “vulgar” and NBC has now declared the song “unfit for radio”.
NBC disclosed this in a letter dated August 6, 2018 and signed by its Zonal Director, Igomu Onoja.
Also added to the no-play list are
- Wande Cole’s song: ‘Iskaba’
- Olamide’s ‘See Mary, See Jesus’
Muslim Right Concern(MURIC) had threatened to sue Falz over some “This Is Nigeria” scenes – where hijab-wearing girls danced “Shaku Shaku” – it found offensive to Islam.

MURIC gave Falz seven days to pull the song but relented after the public rose to Falz’ defence. Falz also said the scenes depicts entertainment being a distraction from real issues.
