Delta: New DESOPADEC boss vows to succeed

The recently appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Oil Producing Area Commission (DESOPADEC), Bashorun Askia Ogieh, has assured Deltans of his resolute determination not to fail them.

This declaration was made during a thanksgiving service put together to celebrate his appointment.

The service was held at St. Matthias Catholic Church, Uzere, Isoko South local government area on Sunday.

During his speech, Ogieh commended Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for availing him the opportunity to serve.

He further iterated his commitment to using his new position in transforming the communities in order for them to reach their full potentials.

“I will humbly ensure to equip our people with the wherewithal to become an entrepreneur and creating an enabling environment for them to achieve their potentials,” Ogieh said.

“I will not fail you. I will not fail our good people of Delta state.

“Under my watch, we will be engaging and liaising with you people in decision making. In project execution, the desires and priorities of the communities will be paramount.

“This is an effective way of bringing the people to buy into their own experience in their various areas.”

He also solicited unrestricted support from various stakeholders in ensuring that the policies and objective of the commission under his administration can be accomplished.

Other notable dignitaries present at the service were former governor and national leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Onanefe James Ibori; the Deputy Governor of the Delta State, Hon. Kingsley Otuaro; Senator James Manager; Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; members from the state’s Executive Council; members from the Delta State House of Assembly; Isoko South Local Government chairman, Hon. Malik Ikpokpo; clergies, traditional rulers, various community leaders amongst others.
