Honourable Chisom Promie Dike, the lawmaker representing Eleme, Tai and Oyigbo federal Constituency of Rivers State, has called for justice and remedy following the June 22 pipeline explosion in Kom Kom and lzuoma communities of Oyigbo local government area of the state.
NNPC and the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) who operate the affected pipeline must compensate the families of victims and survivors, Dike said in an interview with RSTV.
Dike said although people should be warned about the dangers of going near oil pipelines, such warning does not absolve operators who fail to safeguard their facilities of blame when lives are lost.
