BREAKING: Many injured as Nigeria police open fire on CAN protesters in Yola

Many worshippers have reportedly been injured after Nigerian police officers fired shots during a Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) protest against alleged Fulani herdsmen killings in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

Violence reportedly erupted when the police tried to prevent the peaceful CAN procession from reaching strategic parts of the city.

CAN said it organised the protest to register its displeasure with killer herdsmen who have attacked over 43 communities mainly inhabited by Christians in the state.

At a point, the police reportedly resorted to firing live bullets as protesters remained defiant.
