The Dr Okezie Ikpeazu led Abia State Government has finalised plans to harass, illegally arrest and silence investigative journalist Don Norman Obinna, The Realm News authoritatively reports.
Obinna has been publishing state government figures which are themselves publicly available. But the Abia State Government would rather have the media not draw attention to its books and allegedly crooked ways.
The investigative journalist also recently authored “Raped & Enslaved: Abia’s Era of Kleptocracy”, a ground-breaking book detailing the scandalously corrupt and ridiculously inept tenures of Senator T. A. Orji who governed Abia State for eight years.

Orji is Ikpeazu’s godfather.
“This is why they have conspired with the police to frame Don Norman and lock him up,” a reliable source told The Realm News on Christmas morning.
We obtained a photograb of an arrest warrant police apparently obtained from an Umuahia court.
In it, the Abia State Government and police accused Obinna of “cyber-stalking, sending/posting offensive false messages by means of computer system/network, sedition, blackmail, etc.”
The warrant erroneously stated that Obinna, who is Editor-In-Chief of The Realm News “was a journalist”.
But all Obinna has done is publish government’s own facts.
“The government’s plan is to detain Obinna throughout the electioneering period of 2019 so they can continue to deceive Abians and remain in power,” a source told us.
“He is the only one speaking up in Abia State and they want to silence that voice.”
Obinna has denied wrongdoing and urged Abian’s to reject authoritarianism.
“I woke up to the news that I have been declared wanted by the Abia State Police Command,” he said.
“In their description of me, they said that I am 48 years old, and was a journalist.
“For the records, I am not 48 years old. I am also a practicing journalist with constitutional backing to monitor government and public office holders and make them accountable to the society.
“I want to reiterate that no amount of intimidation will stop me from holding Abia State Government and any other government accountable to the society.
“This is coming months after the Abia State Police Command illegally abducted my underage children and detained them for more than 24 hours. Why the desperation?
“If I had defamed anyone or government, the best way to go about it is to seek redress in the court of law. It’s sad that up till now, Nigerian Police Force are yet to learn from the past.
“I will willingly surrender myself to the Abia State Police Command since I am a law-abiding citizen.
“Thanks Ndi Abia for the solidarity. Together we will end bad leadership in Abia State,” he said.
